Hello family, friends, and curious visitors. Welcome to “lo que pase,” the Beesley family blog!  Translated as "whatever happens," "lo que pase" captures the air of flexibility and uncertainty that we were forced to embrace as we fretted about and planned this adventure. But with time, reflection and acceptance, these qualities that we initially saw as troublesome and anxiety-provoking became sources of possibility and resilience. Among the many lists we used to keep track of endless details, was one that Nick titled "Setting the Vibe." It included important bullet points like Opportunities not Obstacles and Slow Down.

We have tried to let this openness percolate through ourselves and our family.  It's a process. At times we find ourselves a bit sticky, clinging to visions of how things "should" be. Other times, we delight to discover an opportunity that we did not know existed.  With each step, the world of adjacent possibilities opens up before us, as long as we are willing to see them.

We look forward to taking you with us on our journey, whatever happens and wherever it may lead.  In our first installment, you will find contributions from each Beesley.  We left Alaska on July 1, and in this edition we will cover the time between when we left up until about Sept 1, when we started to get our lives in Cuenca set up.  There is a lot here, so take your time and journey with us.

July 1, Anchorage airport

         In this edition:

Susie shares her journey through the uncertain year leading up to our departure.  Read Busy Breasts

Nick takes us on a ride down the Rocky Mountains. Less is Plenty

Go to the Cuyabeno jungle with Robin.

Read an interview with a 9 yo biologist and see his taxonomic organization of animals

And Sammy B’s got the Tena street beat

Stay tuned for our next entry all about setting up our lives in Cuenca.  Being our first ever crack at writing and posting a blog, please be patient with us. Lots of the details of how to share this with you are new to us. We welcome feedback and hope to work out kinks over time.

Until next time, pase lo qué pase, la vida continúa.
